It looks like Tom Ford has debuted his skills as a director. Yes, as in Tom Ford the designer! All together now: "Ohhh, reeeeellly??" I mean, I knew he had an eye for all things great but never would I have placed him in the movie making business. But it looks like Mr. Ford truly has a passion for films because astonishingly not only did he direct and produce "A Single Man" but Ford also co-wrote the script. Man means business, for sure. So what is this film about, well let me tell you;
Set in Los Angeles in 1962, A Single Man is the story of George Falconer, a British college professor (Colin Firth) who is struggling to find meaning in his life after the death of his long-time partner, Jim (Matthew Goode). We follow George through a single day, where a series of encounters, ultimately leads him to decide if there is a meaning to life after Jim. George is consoled by his closest friend, Charley (Julianne Moore), a 48-year-old beauty, and is stalked by one of his students, Kenny (Nicholas Hoult)Intriguing right??? Absolutely! But I'm always skeptical of people who think they can cross over to other professions: actors to singers, models to actors, action star to state governor, etc. But, both you and I need not worry because apparently Ford did his thang! His film got insanely amazing praise during its debut at the Venice Film Festival and Colin Firth was even given mad respect by receiving the Best Actor Award. Even Time Online proclaimed the film "a thing of heartstopping beauty!" and that "Tom Ford is the real deal!" and after viewing the trailer, I am a believer! I even smell an Oscar nod! It is THAT exquisite! Seriously, it is pure dynamite and kept me amazingly intrigued. It really looks beautiful and life awakening. I seriously can't wait to watch it stat!
Check it out for yourself:
Purely amazing! Bravo, Tom!
