the british are coming; topshop & topman invades sd!

First batch of costumers to ever enter the store!!!
Last Thursday marked the Grand Opening of British fashion retailer TOPSHOP & TOPMAN in sunny Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego! The opening was a haze of a fashion frenzy as San Diegans queued up in line for their chance to be rewarded some pretty awesome prizes - ranging from free live-screen printing t-shirts, mystery gift cards worth up to $100, tickets to their VIP Opening Party, and the chance to win a drawing of a $1,000 shopping spree - all while listening to some pretty rad tunes from a lineup of DJ's.

I was super stoked to check out the massive 17,500 square feet of a fashion monster and I'm happier than Taylor Swift's next ex-boyfriend I did!!! THIS. PLACE. IS. NIRVANA! And not just for the lovely ladies but also for my fellow dapper gents! We all know that the fellahs usually get shanked when it comes to getting some proper retail loving' but not this time, Satan! The TOPMAN section was dynamite! Everywhere I looked... BOOM! I wanted it all, I needed it all, I'm going shatter my little brother's piggybank (seriously, that kids allowance is ridiculous!!) when I visit home to get it all! Yup, it's that killer! I'm beyond ball tickled to have TOPMAN here in San Diego and I can't wait to see how much debt what MANfits come my way!

Here's pics of the opentivities!

The visual team did an insanely awesome job!
NIRVANA!!!
I just like the yellow!
Need.
Again, visual team killing it!
What my dreams are made out of!
And then the VIP Private Party went down at the Moniker Warehouse in the trendy East Village in downtown! A cool and fashionable crowd showed up to celebrate Topshop and Topman's San Diegan cherry popping and let me tell you, the Brits now how to throw an awesome shindig! Not only did the place look and feel like hipster London but rocking the night away with Dead Right! (Graham Knoxx is a foxx!!!) and the ridiculously rad Cold War Kids aint so bad at all! Actually, how do you say epic night in British? Oh yeah...
EPIC. BLOODY. NIGHT!!!

If you're ever in San Diego make sure to pop on over to Fashion Valley Mall to check out Topman and Topshop, along with other au currant fashion shops!

Peace, Mothalovahs!

the men and rihanna's sparkly titties @ the cfda awards!

Last night was the Shine Bright Like Two Titties: the Rihanna Story Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards. All the fashion who-ha's gathered around as the best of the best were honored for their contributions to the fashionsphere. Rightful winners included professional blue-steele face wearer Señor Tom Ford as the recipient of the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, Womenswear Designer of the Year went to fortune cookie Joseph Altuzarra, NYC's favorite beanie-babies Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen won the Accessories Designer of the Year for The Row, and Anna Wintour held on to the Fashion Icon Award for dear life before Rihanna in her 230,000 Swavorski crystal covered lady parts took it away.

While more of the attention goes to the ladies of the night, the gents weren't far behind them in their menswear game. Here are my favorite homies that killed it last night on the red carpet ho-stroll.

Tom Ford in Tom Ford

Brad Goreski in Thom Browne

Nick Wooster in Thom Browne

Mr. Thom Browne in Thom Browne

Menswear Designer of the Year Award winners Maxwell Osborne an Dao-Yi Chow of Public School with Captain America's nemesis Sebastian Stan

Gilles Mendel in ? (whatever it is, it's awesome!)

Band of Outsider's designer Scott Sternberg

And because there's no better pair (wait, threesome?) than titties and crystals, here's Rihanna channeling her inner Great Gatsby speakeasy harlot.

For more of the winners and to catch the entire awards show head on over to CFDA.COM!

rendez vous-ing with j. crew & their head of womens design tom mora in SF!

As our late Indian summer decided to high tail it's crazy self out of San Francisco (it was amazing but I've been craving some REAL Fall Bay Area weather!), the rain (that's more like it!) ushered in J. Crew's Head of Womens Design Señorito Tom Mora into the newly revamped J. Crew store at the Westfield Center for a little private rendez-vous.

While I sipped up all the wine and gobbled up all the hors d'oeuvres - I'm not lying; there was a point where none of the ladies wanted to drink nor eat anymore and since I was 1 out of the 4 guys at the store & a college man at that, plus my mama taught me to never be a rude guest, the waiter just parked himself next to me - fellow fashioncritters oooh'ed, aahhh'ed, and bagged up the current stellar Holiday Collection.
Head of Womens Design/My FSBFL Tom Mora @ the SF event.
I was able to get some time with Tom and to stop myself from trying to successfully manage to sneakily highjack his ridiculously rad cobalt blue accented scarf (you all know how I'm a sucker for a good MANcessory!), I asked him what he thought was a Fall must have item for our lady friends. Surprisingly, it was not a dress, nor heal, nor it-bag, but rather an it-color that he referred to as Tomato Red! I've already professed my affinity for pops of bold colors during the grey season, so right then and there, I knew Tom was my FSBFL [Fashion Soul Bro For Life]!

Tom has beautifully embedded this Tomato Red within his current J. Crew womens collection and here's some of my favorite pieces:
Cashmere Tee Dress $228
Natasha Top $88
Hacking Jacket in Double Serge Wool $250
Excursion Quilted Vest $98
Teddy Dress $198
Café Capri in Wool $118
Edie Purse $238
And the gents aren't left out. Tomato Red is an equal opportunity Fall color!
Chambray Shirt $98
Heavyweight Flannel Shirt in Big Basin Plain $98
Cashmere V-Neck Sweater $198
Stanton Pant in Urban Slim Fit $75
Many thanks to Tom Mora and J. Crew SF for such a charmingly delightful event! Now hurry up and head over to J. Crew to snag up some blazing pieces that will waken up your hibernating senses during the upcoming Fall/Winter days. Get some, mothalovahs!
