Fashion Immediacy killed Tom Ford shows!!!

It was saddening and disappointing to hear that Tom Ford had chosen not to show at New York Fashion Week recently but as soon as that was said rumors bombarded the fashionwebs that homeboy actually did hold an insanely exclusive & private presentation to highly select crème de la crème individuals, with A-listers such as Beyoncé, Julianne Moore, Natalia, Daria, Amber, Karen Elson, Marisa Berensen, Lauren Hutton, & Daphne Guiness as models. Definitely quite the sight to see and probably THE event of the season besides Chanel's exclusive dinner for the reopening of their SoHo store. But unlike Karlfeld's paparazzi driven event, Tom Ford had the presentation so tightly controlled that no flash photography was allowed, with the exception of the official line's photographer, resident dirtbag Terry Richardson. Sounds too crazy to be true, right? Wrong. It DID happen. But unfortunately for us, Tom is going to keep his collection between those that saw it that night and himself. No pictures of the event or collection will be seen until January. Saaaayyy whaaattt!!??? Yeah, I need a drraaaannnk! And we're not the only ones who have to wait, celebs will too. Ford will not dress them until late Decemberish. So we all kindasorta lose. But why oh why would Tom do this to us? Check out this lil snippet from his recent interview by WWD:
"Nothing until December. This fashion immediacy thing — yes, if you can order the clothes immediately, if you can see them and press a button and they can be shipped to your house, I get fashion immediacy.…I don’t get the need for this immediacy. In fact, I think it’s bad.
The way the system works now, you see the clothes, within an hour or so they’re online, the world sees them. They don’t get to a store for six months. The next week, young celebrity girls are wearing them on red carpets. They’re in every magazine. The customer is bored with those clothes by the time they get to the store. They’re overexposed, you’re tired of them, they’ve lost their freshness, you see somebody wearing it and you say, “Oh, that’s that jacket that was in blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.” Or [a] customer doesn’t want to wear that jacket that was in blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. In addition, all of the fast-fashion companies that do a great job, by the way, knock everything off. So it’s everywhere all over the streets in three months and by the time you get it to the store, what’s the point?"
Damn you, fashion immediacy!!! Damn you to Tila Tequila's infested snatch and back!!! And no, this is not just a "one time" kind of thing, he plans on replicating this private viewing shindig for all of his future collections. I'm telling you, 2012 IS UPON US!!! I can't believe he just pulled this one on us, I needed time to prepare!!! I still do. But after eating some Ben & Jerry's and looking back at past runway shows on style.com to comfort me, I find his stance against fashion immediacy to be highly interesting, intriguing and ultimately valid- so I can't stay mad at Ford for too long. I'll get over it. That or I will hustle my way to the blogging top to infiltrate those presentations of his. Yup, that's it. Watch out Bryanboy!! Jk, I don't take myself that seriously. Anywho, I'm really interested to see how this new form of fashion privacy, if you will, is going to impact both Tom Ford's company and if perhaps others will follow suit. If the latter happens, I may go crazy (think Britney circa K-Fed).

Thoughts?

It's getting hot in huurrrr!!!

Peter Dundas for sure had me in mind when he designed these tantalizing spectacles for the Emilio Pucci Fall 2010 RTW show. I am unquestionably a pure sucker for long legs and a bare back and these dresses just totally do it for me. And I also love the way they hug and show off a woman's curves just amazingly. Damn sexy.

Up, close and personal with McQueen's LAST collection:

Being inspired by Byzantine art and Old Masters paintings, this collection is absolutely superb and worthy of its own gallery at a prestigious museum. I'm also definitely getting an 'Angels and Demons' vibe which I find completely and utterly genius. And once again, I can't get over the mass attention to detail!!! Out of this world astonishing and absolutely á la McQueen. Bravo, Lee.
His genius is definitely a tough act to follow but I'm looking forward to see who takes the new reigns.
